Children’s Activity Day at the Museum
MONDAY 13th February 2017 10.30am until 3.30pm.There will be many entertaining, interesting and educational activities for children between the ages of 4 and 12. Participants can make a Roman sword and helmet and paint Roman beads to make a necklace. The activities also include dressing up and brooch and mask making. Many of the activities are based on finds from Ribchester, including the Ribchester Parade Helmet, a fine copy of which is on display in the Museum.Join us for a fun day out !
Iron Age Days 2017
Sunday 7th May and Sunday 11th September 201711.00am – 4.00pmIron Age Day is one of our annual events and is held in September at the Museum in the Jim Ridge gallery. This year, due to popular demand, we are running a spring event too in May.In an informative and lively way, it demonstrates life in the Ribble Valley prior to the occupation of the Romans.This family oriented event features a small living history society called Timeline that recreates aspects of Celtic life including food and cooking, clothing and textile production and weapons and warfare. You will be amazed at how ingenious our Iron Age ancestors were!Children’s activities will include grinding grain with authentic quernstones, face painting and quizzes.The Museum and site are also open throughout the day as usual.
